Did You Know? POCUS Can Help Detect Increased Intracranial Pressure
Headache is a common complaint in primary care—but when should you worry about increased intracranial pressure? This post highlights how point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) can be used in the clinic to measure optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD), a reliable marker of elevated intracranial pressure. Featuring a real-world case of a patient with suspected idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), we show how ocular POCUS empowered the provider to make a fast, informed decision that led to timely diagnosis and treatment.
